Lululemon should really, really know better than to snide-tweet about Beyoncé. In the hierarchy of world domination, Bey rings in pretty much on top (along with her love), while all Lululemon is known for is its see-through yoga pants debacle. The fearless brand nevertheless flung some nasty tweets at Beyoncé today, following the debut of a two-minute video heralding her new athleisure line, Ivy Park, and solidified its curse of mediocrity.
The apparel company kicked things off by trying to shut down someone’s fangirling on Twitter. “Lululemon about to go bankrupt cause Beyonce released an active wear line #gamechanger,” one Hive member posted. Never one to stay silent on the sidelines, Lulu fired back in a since-deleted tweet, “We don’t plan to bow down to the Queen B when it comes to workout gear, but you know we’re going to keep buying her albums,” as reported by E! News.

Next, someone who goes by “Sly” tweeted, “Is Ivy Park supposed to be like Lululemon?” In a response that was perhaps supposed to be tongue-in-cheek but just came out foot-in-mouth, Lululemon’s possibly already-fired social media gurus said, then deleted, “They do say imitation is the best form of flattery. Maybe Beyonce is so Crazy In Love with our brand, she made her own.” Ouch, slash not-so-ouch, because that doesn’t leave much of a sting.

The Beyhive, ‘Yoncé’s veritable army of followers, was quick to clap back.
“In what world does Ivy Park look like your basic ass overpriced yoga pants? Get over yourselves,” one fan posted. Though Lululemon sort of apologized by replying, “We didn’t mean any harm. We’re huge fans,” they’re not fooling anyone. It’s clear that they think their crop tops are superior to Queen Bey’s; unfortunately they didn’t get the memo that no one gets to ride higher than the queen.
