Barbra Streisand accepted the SAG Life Achievement Award for career achievements and humanitarian accomplishments last night and shared some advice from her mom, which she ‘happily’ ignored.
The Hollywood icon took to the stage at the Screen Actors Guild Awards to accept the award from Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Aniston, and the moved crowd was left in tears.

As she took to the stage, the 81-year-old had the celebrity audience going through a roller coaster of emotions, making them laugh, and then cry.
Opening up, she joked: “This is such a wonderful award to get, because you know in advance you’re going to get it.
“And you don’t have to sit there and squirm like I remember, wondering if you’re gonna get it, you’re not gonna get it. And if you don’t get it, you’re gonna have to put on such a happy face, ‘I’m so happy to lose!'” she continued.
As the Funny Girl star watched the screen behind dedicated to her, she said, “Everything was so beautiful up on that screen. That make-believe world was much more pleasant than anything I was experiencing. I didn’t like reality. I wanted to be in the movies, even though I knew I didn’t look like the other women on the screen.”
On the advice her mother gave her, the icon said, “My mother said, ‘You better learn to type,’ but I didn’t listen. Somehow, some way, thank you, God, it all came true.”
Barbra went on to do more than just ‘be in the movies‘ and has achieved six decades of an extremely successful career in acting, directing, and singing to name a few.
Anne Hathaway moved to tears
One celebrity who was noticeably moved by Barbra’s presence was Devil Wears Prada star, Anne Hathaway.
As Streisand graced the stage, the camera panned to the actress in her stunning blue dress, who had tears in her eyes while applauding.
Social media went crazy for the clip, as one exclaimed: “Talent recognizing talent!”
“The only appropriate reaction to seeing Barbra Streisand,” said another.
